647CP FAQ's
What kind of airplane is it?
The airplane is a Mooney M20M/T. The T stands for turbo-charged engine, meaning it does not lose power as it gains altitude. Top speed is 220 knots (250 miles per hour), and the maximum altitude is 25,000 ft. It will carry four passengers and luggage. It is equipped with a TKS system to provide deicing protection.
How long will it take to get to Grand Junction?
The following are typical times* that you can expect to different destinations, Grand Junction to: Denver (Jeffco) :55, Denver (Centennial) 1:00, Colo. Springs -1:00, Santa Fe 1:20, Scottsdale 2:00, St George 1:30, Reno 3:00, Boise 2:30, Jackson 1:40.
*All times are "wheels up" with no allowance for wind. Expect faster going east, slower going west.
When do I need to be at the airport?
Just like with our printing, the schedule is yours, not ours. We will leave when you arrive and are ready to go.
What about bad weather?
We will not fly in really bad weather. However, 647CP is equipped with the latest in Avionics (Garmin 1000), anti ice equipment (TKS system), and is capable of altitudes up to 25,000 feet, enough to get over the top of most storm systems. The pilot is Instrument rated with over 1800 hours of flying, all of it in the mountainous terrain of Colorado and the intermountain west. Weather forecasts are usually accurate in the short term (12 hours in advance.) On most days, weather is not a problem. If it is, we will know far enough in advance to make other plans. There will, however, be days when the weather surprises us and turns bad at the last minute. Again, we will not fly in really bad weather.

What should I wear?
Dress comfortably. Slacks are recommended for women (and for men) as the entry to the airplane is somewhat awkward.

What about the pilot?
Our pilot, Dan Thurlow, is Chairman of Colorado Printing Co. He has been a licensed pilot since 1967 and is instrument rated with over 1800 hours, all of it in the Colorado mountains and the intermountain west.
